Dateline NBC Pre-Empted February 20 2026 for Winter Olympics Coverage
Dateline NBC will not air a new episode on Friday, February 20, 2026, as NBC devotes the primetime slot to Winter Olympics coverage. The network will instead broadcast live competition beginning at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT, featuring several marquee events from the Games.
Viewers can expect coverage of the women’s 1500-meter speed skating race, along with finals in short track speed skating. The broadcast will also include the men’s freeski halfpipe final, a fan-favorite event known for its high-flying tricks and dramatic runs. In addition, audiences will see action from the two-woman bobsled competition, as teams continue their quest for a podium finish.
NBC’s Olympic coverage traditionally brings together multiple events in one primetime package, combining live competition, highlights, and athlete profiles. With medals on the line across several disciplines, the night promises intense racing, precision, and athletic performance at the highest level.
Dateline NBC is expected to return to its regular schedule the following week. In the meantime, viewers can stream previous Dateline episodes on Peacock.
